🎬 Movie Review
The Archies brings the familiar Archie Comics characters into a distinctly Indian setting, placing the story in a fictional 1960s Riverdale. The film combines teenage romance, friendship, music and a community-focused storyline.
One of the film's central strengths is its colourful period presentation. The costumes, sets, music and overall visual design create a deliberately nostalgic atmosphere that reflects the 1960s world of the original Archie characters while giving the story an Indian cultural identity.
The story also gives the young characters a shared cause. The threat to their beloved park provides the group with a reason to move beyond their individual romantic problems and work together. This adds a coming-of-age element to the film's romantic and musical storyline.
The cast includes Agastya Nanda as Archie Andrews, Khushi Kapoor as Betty Cooper, Suhana Khan as Veronica Lodge, Vedang Raina as Reggie Mantle, Mihir Ahuja as Jughead Jones, Aditi Saigal as Ethel Muggs and Yuvraj Menda as Dilton Doiley. 1
With its musical numbers, colourful production design and young ensemble, The Archies is built as a nostalgic coming-of-age story about friendship, first love, personal freedom and standing up for a place the characters call home.
